ANNCR: Jahmila is a 23 year-old student at
the Art Institute of Chicago. A year ago, she had no confidence in her ability
to finish a sculpture of her left ear.
GIRL: I
couldnÕt calm down. I was all over the place. Every time I sat down to sculpt,
IÕd break part of it.
ANNCR: A friend advised Jahmila to try
Òprimal screamÓ techniques and invited her to practice with him.
GIRL: I didnÕt realize he meant,
ÒLetÕs go to a football game.Ó
ANNCR: JahmilaÕs first attempt at
screaming filled her with a sense of purpose sheÕd lacked, and soon she was
hooked.
GIRL: Those
refs are just so blind. Seeing that just makes me feel better about my own
problems.
