TEA CUP: PRE-ORDER

Reserve a piece for September 27th

  • These one-of-a-kind teacups are inspired by ancient Korean and Japanese tea bowls. Each is intentionally left ‘wabi sabi’ (perfectly imperfect). The original Korean potters made their tea bowls imperfect so that the drinker would be cognizant of every sip and touch; this made every cup and every encounter a unique and memorable experience.

    Jordan hand-illustrates each cup and saucer with illustrations of her own design.

    The Baba Yaga cups depict Baba Yaga with her iconic chickenlegged hut. These playful depictions remove the frightening stigma from cronehood and encourage us to get closer to this ancient magical matron.

    The mermaid cups depict these legendary sirens luring fishermen and singing to villages. Another vilified female figure, the siren is often hypersexualized, or written as an evil monster. These cups playfully remind us that powerful womenfolk exist and deserve our respect.

  • Each teacup is the size of a small lemon. Each comes with a saucer; the Baba Yaga saucers all have two trees and a field pattern. The mermaid saucers all have waves and a fish.

  • Inspired by time spent in the deep woods, Jordan has found a fascination with the lore of witches. The Baba Yaga is a witch from Slavic folklore, said to devour the souls of children—but the real story is more complex, explaining Baba Yaga as a guide that brings seekers to a new level of self awareness. Jordan has created these playful pieces as an anecdote to the villainization of women with magic and power. Intentionally friendly and sweet, this luminary depicts the Baba Yaga sitting beside her iconic home: the hut on chicken legs.

  • A meerkat-mermaid glug jug. Glug jugs are jugs that intentionally glug when poured. This surreal fellow is a combination of a meerkat and a fish, creating an altogether new and silly animal.

Happiness (vase)—SOLD

  • The bluebird of happiness sits atop a ruined ice cream cone—one of the universal symbols for sadness and dissatisfaction. The bird’s plague mask is an allusion to the pandemic, a time of great dissatisfaction and disappointment for everyone. The piece overall is a metaphorical portrait of the pandemic era.
